Janice Carol Johnson age 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA.

Janice was born in Wise County to the late Russell & Bertha Burke Large. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son Kevin Wayne Johnson. Janice was a fantastic cook and noted for her iconic Johnson Chili recipe. She started her working career working at the Three-Way Motel and Restaurant, and then went to work many years as a quality inspector at Buster Brown in Coeburn. She enjoyed going to yard sales and talking to everyone she met. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a dear friend to all.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Clinton "Ozzy" Johnson; granddaughters Alana Greear & husband Darren of Johnson City and Eliza Deel & husband Patrick of Coeburn; sisters Naomi Jones, Betty Pannell & husband Forgy, all of Coeburn, Jean Hill & husband Roy of Dandridge, TN, and Bernice Hill of Sevierville, TN; brothers Roger Large & Brenda of Strasburg, VA and George Large & Sandy of Hazard, KY; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00PM on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from the Estes Funeral Home Chapel in Coeburn. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM at the funeral home with Pastor Les Richie officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Estes Funeral Home of Coeburn is serving the Johnson Family.
