Big Spring, Texas- Juan Montelongo "El Bear" Rodriguez passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 30, 2021.

Juan was born on March 30, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas to Getrudez Rodriguez and his mother Maria Luisa Rodriguez.

Juan married his wife, Margaritia the first time, because they couldn't make up their minds but made their marriage official through the Catholic Church, in August of 1986.

Juan was an outgoing and loving father, enjoyed fishing immensely, watching westerns, listening to all kinds of music, eating sweets and scratching off lottery tickets.

Juan was a great handyman and could fix just about anything, greatly enjoyed teaching his great granddaughter Christian Raylynn how to speak Spanish, in his early years played bass guitar in the band, Continentals, and also in the church choir.

Juan's employment history was vast and numerous. His most treasured employers were Jimmy Hopper, Toyota of Big Springs and Turner Properties.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Getrudez and Maria Luisa Rodriguez, his son, Luis Cisneros, sister Merejilda "Mary"Cortez , and his niece Melinda "Melie" Garcia.

He is survived by his wife, Margaritia Rodriguez, his daughter Delores Cisneros, (husband Joe), his son John Rodriguez, (wife, Amy Attaway), his daughter Michelle "Nigga" Rodriguez, (husband Gavino Ortiz).
He is survived by his grandchildren Catherine Kelly (husband Dickey), Christina Garner, Analysia Rodriguez, Mateo Rodriguez, (girlfriend Samara Daniels) Hannah Murphy and Mary Murphy. His great grand child, Christian Raylynn Rodriguez.
He is survived in death by his brothers and sisters, Frances Parras (husband Jose Gonzales), Cipriano Rodriguez (wife Virginia), Jovita Hernandez (husband deceased), Ermelinda Garcia (husband Augustine), Getrudez Rodriguez (wife Patsy), Isabel Rodriguez (husband Tony), and Ramona Marquez (husband David). Juan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers for the funeral service will be J.R. Rodriguez, Tony "Chunk" Rodriquez, Matthew Rodriguez, Hugo Hernandez, Augustine Hernandez, Thomas Hernandez, Honorable Pallbearers are John Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez and Gavino Ortiz.

Visitation will be on Sunday December 5, 2021 from 10am-9pm with a vigil service 7pm at Myers and Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services for Juan Rodriguez will be on Monday December 6, 2021 at 10am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
A fund has been set up at Myer's and Smith Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
