Mr. James Allen Pitts, 82, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. James was born in Flemington, Missouri on April 24, 1939, to Mr. Loren Pitts and Mrs. Zena Lightfoot. One of four children, James grew up knowing what it meant to be part of a loving family. It was in Kansas, where James spent most of his life, that he met Patricha and followed her home from the skating rink one night…and as they say, "the rest is history". James was blessed to have found his soulmate, partner, and the love of his life in Patricha and the two spent more than 63 years married. Together Patricha and James had their daughter, Julie, and his childhood knowledge experiences in a loving home truly began to show. James was an amazing father to Julie, constantly there for her and willing to do whatever it took; from softball coach to horse taxi, Julie never knew her dad to fail her in any way, he even taught her to drive a bulldozer and tractor! James really loved "to play in the dirt" and there was nothing he couldn't fix if it was mechanical; spending 38 years with Coleman Implement as a mechanic and surrounded by tractors and equipment will do that to a man. James was better known as Grandpa to his two grandchildren who loved him dearly and he was an even better grandfather than father if you can believe that. This loving and outgoing man with such a large heart for his family will be deeply missed by all that knew him, but his legacy will carry on in the lessons of love he shared with all.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Patricha Ann Pitts of Lumberton; his daughter, Julie Jackson of Lumberton; his brother, Larry Pitts; his sister, Freda Haney; his grandchildren, Colton Jackson, and Cayla Mitchell and husband Tyler, as well as many friends, co-workers, and loved ones over the years.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Arlene Hill.

Cremation has been entrusted to Lumberton Family Funeral Home. A life honoring memorial service will be held at a later date, please check back for arrangements.
