William Johnathan Holmes, age 70, of Springport, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021 in the comfort of his bed in his own home with his beloved dog, Spike, at his side. Will was born on January 11, 1951 in Albion, Michigan the son of Oliver Wendell and Kathleen Eloise (Sweezy) Holmes. He loved being outdoors and was passionate about animals - especially his dog, Spike. He worked as a plumber and handyman doing residential maintenance. He was always willing to share his knowledge and experience to lend a helping hand to others with any project or those needing his help.
Preceding Will in death are his parents; son, Sherlock; daughter, Elaine; and brother, Kevin. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children: Heather Holmes (Bruce Curtis), April Boone, Jonathan Comer, Jeremy (Robin) Maitland and Jamie Maitland; grandchildren, Zach Mastemak, Bryen Boone, Allie Boone, Ashton Boone, Zach Bunnell, Harmony Bunnell, Sebastian Holmes, Lacey Miller, Steven Newman, Justin Maitland and Blake Maitland; great grandchildren, Daniel, Isabelle, Tyffanni, Atticus, Bayleigh, Harlow, Sebaya and Harley; siblings, Oliver Jr. aka "Butch", Christine, and Hiram; close friends: Doyle, Bob, Randy, Martha Gunn, and Joyce Smith; ex-wife, Julie Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Will's life will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. the Vickers Springport Funeral Home located at 121 Pearl Street in Springport, Michigan. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a graveside service following the service at Campbell Cemetery at the corner of Brown Road and Devereaux Road in Parma. A luncheon will be held at the VFW Hall in Springport following the services, please bring a dish to pass. Arrangements entrusted to Vickers Springport Funeral Home
