Rev. Floyd W. Beckstrand, age 80, of Finley, ND, died Sunday, October 14, 2007, at his daughter's home in Drayton, ND.

Floyd Wallace Beckstrand was born December 4, 1926, the son of Gust and Selma (Magnuson) Beckstrand on the family farm near Warwick, ND. He attended a country school through the 8th grade, and then attended and graduated from Warwick High School. Floyd farmed with his father and brothers until the age of 26, when he answered God's call on his life to be a minister. He received his Pastoral training at Lakewood Park Bible College near Devils Lake, ND.

In his 54 years of ministry, Pastor Floyd served several churches in the tri-state area including Wildrose, ND, Crookston, MN; Kadoka and Rapid City, SD; Rolla, Belcourt, Ellendale, and Finley, ND. In addition to his Pastoral ministry, Floyd was involved in Missionary work to American Indians in South Dakota, and at Belcourt, ND. He also had served as Dean of Men at Trinity Bible College at Ellendale. Floyd retired from Church Ministry in July of 2006; however, he remained active in personal service to his Lord until the evening of his death as a Supply Minister and Visitation Pastor. His great passion was to tell everyone about the love of Jesus.

On May 19, 1951, Floyd was united in marriage to Lorraine Huwe at Minot, ND. Six children were born to them, and grew up involved in their parents' church ministry. Floyd and Lorraine had celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary shortly before she died October 8, 1976. Floyd was again blessed in marriage on April 29, 1978, to Barbara Braunberger at Finley, ND. They had recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary of 29 years.

Having been born and raised on the farm, Floyd's love of the farm was only second to his love of God and his family. One of his favorite things to do was to just walk through the hills and fields. For many years he was also known as an excellent sheep shearer. Another side line that he had was working as a school bus driver, interacting with hundreds of children over the years.

His love of family was constantly and consistently shown by the manner by which "Granddad" cherished spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren.

Until we are someday reunited, Floyd will be deeply missed by his wife Barbara; seven children, Carmen (Rev. Kelepi) Veikoso of Sydney, Australia, Jeanne (Gary) Anderson of West Fargo, ND, Bev (Rev. LeRoy) Aufenkamp of Drayton, ND, Jane (Vern) Bjugstad of Mandan, ND, Carol (Kent) Braunberger of New Rockford, ND, Rev. Foster (Kelly) Beckstrand of Dazey, ND and Joe (LeAnn) Beckstrand of Jamestown, ND; 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, John (Inez) Beckstrand, Melvin (Marie) Beckstrand, and Gladys (Bob) Jacobson, all of Warwick, ND; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine, a brother Bernard and a sister Thelma Loven.
