Nancy Jenkins, 82, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Windom died Nov. 9, 2021, at her daughter's home in Lakewood. A Celebration of Life service was Monday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Pastor Mike McInnis officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements. Nancy Jane Hiebert was born March 4, 1939, in Mt. Lake and grew up in Bingham Lake. She attended Windom schools, graduating from Windom High School. In 1957, Nancy married Richard Jenkins of Lakefield. They lived in Windom where their three daughters — Jane, Barbara and Kay — were born. Nancy worked in the nursing field as an aide, licensed practical nurse and registered nurse in Windom and Minneapolis for over 40 years. She was diagnosed in October with acute myeloid leukemia and was placed in hospice care. The family attended and were members of the United Methodist Church. Nancy enjoyed serving with United Methodist Women. Some of Nancy's favorite memories came from spending time with family and friends. In retirement, she and Richard enjoyed winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. She also enjoyed daily phone conversations with her mother, playing cards with friends in Bayport and Stillwater and morning coffee. She enjoyed being around people and will be remembered for the conversations she struck up wherever she went. She was especially proud of her daughters and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jenkins; parents, Frank and Dorothy Hiebert; brother, Delevan Hiebert; sisters, Louise Brugman and Virginia Hay; and son-in-law, Perry Grell. Survivors include her daughters: Jane (Christopher) Imperiale of St. Paul; Barbara Grell of Papillion, Neb.; and Kay Cowell of Lakewood, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandsons.
