Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty M. May, age 89, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 4, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Newellton, Louisiana, with Rev. Larry Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton. After the burial, refreshments will be served at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, December 3, 2021, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana.

Mrs. May, a resident of Lucas, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2021, at Prairie Estates Nursing Home in Frisco, Texas. She was born May 27, 1932, to George W. and Ever Lee McCormack.

Mrs. Betty May was a long-time resident of Newellton. She and her husband, Joe, owned and operated the "Bears Den", which was a big part of Newellton life for both the young and the old. After her retirement, she moved to West Monroe, Louisiana, to live close to her brother, James McCormack. Later, she moved to Lucas, Texas, to live with her son and his wife. She was well loved and will be missed by all.

Mrs. May is survived by her son, Joseph C. May and wife Elizabeth; nephew, Jimmy McCormack and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Brandy May Dobbs and Joseph Michael May; and great grandchildren, Miranda May Dobbs, Logan Michael Dobbs, and Melody Elizabeth May.

Mrs. May is preceded in death by her parents, George Walker McCormack and Ever Lee (Nolan) McCormack; husband, Joe May, Jr., sons, Ronald Alan May and Steven Harold May, and brothers, George William McCormack, James Paul McCormack, and Johnny Mack McCormack.

Pallbearers will be Phil Arnold, Jimmy McCormack, David Vinson, Bob Walton, Jimmy Estelle, and Royce Estelle.
