Jerry was born June 18, 1940 in Atlanta to the late William Howard and Catherine Travis Sims. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Martha (Wood) Sims of Kennesaw; his brother, Doug Sims of Buford; his daughter, Jo-el Howell and her husband, Brian; his son, Brett Sims and his wife, Kim; his stepchildren, Michael Worley and his wife Michelle, Scott Worley and his wife Kerry, Hallie Clemons and her husband Daniel; his grandchildren, Beck Howell, Trevor Howell, Chad Sims, Morgan Sims; and his step-grandchildren, Nathan and Erin Worley, Brittany and Channing Clemons, Sam, Simon, Hank, Fletcher and Rex Worley; his great-grandchildren, Alexis and Xander Worley.
Jerry graduated from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, before serving in the Air National Guard. He worked for Georgia Power Company, retiring after 33 years and then moved on to Stasco Mechanical Contractors of Marietta for 15 years.
A loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who always put others first, Jerry adored his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
