GEORGIA L. ANDERSON, 80, of Des Moines,Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007, at her residence in Beaverdale, Iowa (sub. of Des Moines), after a long battle with cancer.
GEORGIA was an aluminus of SAC CITY HIGH SCHOOL, , SAC CITY, IOWA, class of 1946. She graduated in 1955 from Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse in various hospitals and nursing homes in the Des Moines, Iowa area until 1997, and as a home health aide until her retirement in 2001.
In recent years, GEORGIA devoted her life to her family and to her poetry, which was published in 2005 in a chapbook entitled, LOVE, LIFE and LIVING IT. She was a featured poet in various compilations published by the International Library of Poets and won a Poet of Merit award from the International Society of Poets.
GEORGIA is survived by her five sons, David, Randolph and James ANDERSON and Kent and Eric SCHNIRRING; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Polk County, Iowa. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
