Obituary for Ethel Mae Smith
Ethel Mae White Smith, age 83, of Rosedale, Virginia, formerly of Oakwood, Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital.

She was born in War, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Starlin and Millie Jane Street White.

She had spent most of her life in the Oakwood area and had worked at the Island Creek Company Store before volunteering at the Gift of Love, the Keen Mountain Christian Academy, and the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens. She had been a member of the Keen Mountain Pentacostal Church for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Smith; sisters, Rose Helton and Lottie Yates; and brother, Abraham Lincoln White; and two infant brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors are:

Daughter: Guyetta McCracken and husband, Jeff of Rosedale, Virginia

Granddaughter: Tabby Smith and husband, Clay
Great Grandchildren: Brody David Smith and Oakley Graham Smith

Funeral services for Ethel Mae White Smith will be conducted Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 7pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Randy Webb and Tony Yates officiating. Burial will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11am. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the funeral home by 1030am on Thursday morning. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Smith, Brian Smith, Donnie Yates, Ronnie Yates, Tim Fields, and David Helton. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of the Kenn Mountain Pentacostal Church.

Friends may call from 6pm until 7pm on Wednesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
