Ruth King Cross, 88, of Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Sullivan County and was the daughter of the late Toy and Madge King.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lee Cross on May 22, 2010, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
She attended Berea College, graduating in 1955. She started teaching at Blountville High School that same year. Ruth also graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, taking graduate classes and receiving her Master's degree in Education. She participated in Aerospace classes and was a member of Civil Air Patrol.
A Graveside service to honor Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at East Tennessee Cemetery in Blountville with Pastor Susan officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:00 pm.
