Passed away on June 14, 2021 at PeopleCare AR Goudie Long Term Care Home at the age of 90 after a brief illness.
A life-long resident of KW, he grew up on Allen St. in Waterloo. Fred is predeceased by his parents, Olga and Frederick Sr., and his siblings Pauline (Emil Hornburg), Stella (Ervin Hoerl), Edwin (Marie), Norma (William Peterson), Irene (Clarence Hahn), Daisy, and Douglas. He is survived by his wife Barbara, and two children, Sharon (Gerry Hilhorst - deceased) and Fred Jr. (Marg), along with three grandchildren Sara (Eric), Megan (Tim), and Ian, and five great-grandchildren (Georgia, Zachary, Oliver, Grace, and Evelyn). Frederick's family will hold a private funeral due to COVID-19 restrictions at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery (Waterloo). Guests are invited to view the funeral and interment via livestream on June 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming. We would like to thank the entire staff of AR Goudie People Care for the terrific, loving care that Fred received over the last few years. Dad always liked to help whenever asked, as this gave him a sense of purpose. The recreation staff recognized this early on, and made his stay there much more enjoyable. As expressions of sympathy, Frederick's family has requested you not send flowers but rather donations to the Alzheimer's Society or People Care A.R. Goudie- Kitchener would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
