Charles David Howell Sr. of Roanoke, born April 24th, 1943, left this chapter of life to start his next one on November 17, 2021. His mother and father, Lillian and Lonzie Howell, sister, May Howell, and brother, George Howell all welcomed him home.

He leaves behind three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Howell, Harvey Howell, and Bill (Dink) Howell; former wife, Linda Howell and sister in law, Glenda Kelly, a daughter, Ann Howell Morones (William), 2 sons, Charles David Howell Jr. and Roger Walters (Francine), and grandchildren Krystal Morones (James), Cassandra Anderson, David Morones Jr. (Emily), Wyatt Morgan, Desiree Howell (Tyler), Owen Dean Howell, Rene Martinez (Rosa), Melissa Oxman (Brandon), Tara Walters and Christine O'Brien. He also leaves his great-grandchildren Harley, Bella, Christopher, Keeley, Cayley, Ava, Renae, Elianna, Peyton, and Holdren. His many beloved nieces and nephews can not be forgotten. And finally, he leaves behind his very loyal companion and best friend, Little Bear. If you saw one, you saw the other.

David was a man's man. He always had his hands on something. He was a farmer, a cattleman, a carpenter, even a landscaper, but his best roles were being a dad, pawpaw, and a g-paw. He loved his family, his kids, and most of all his grandkids and great-grandkids. David dedicated his life to kids. He drove a school bus for Roanoke City Schools for over 30 years. He impacted so many kids' lives, with a simple hello every morning. And when he finally decided to retire, he spent his day with his sweet pup watching his birds on the back porch.

"Dad, we all love and miss you tremendously. We will continue to get up every day, look up at the sunshine, and think of you. We will make sure to keep putting one foot in front of the other and continue to go on because that is what you would want us to do. Until we meet again."

We would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Davis, for always watching out for Dad, to Mrs. Lela Blewett for helping when needed and just listening, and to the Hospice team, who are the true angels with invisible wings."

A memorial will be held on December 8th for David at 5:30 pm to celebrate his life. All food will be hosted by Taste of the South and with services done by Pastor Tom Blewett. For more information regarding services, please contact the family. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Franklin County Human Society in David and Little Bear's name.
