ABNER MERCER DIES AT AGE 83

Abner C. Mercer died this morning at 3 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law, Uri Eberhard, one mile south of Savannah. He was aged 83 years, eight months and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his wife 12 years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Uri Eberhard and three grandchildren, Paul, Dale and Ester Eberhard.
The funeral was held Sunday at the Eberhard home at 1 p.m. in charge of Rev. Wilson Sloa?? of Savannah assisted by Rev. Wert. Burial will be made in Savannah cemetery.[Typed as names appear in the article.]

Abner Crabbs Mercer, aged 83 years, eight months and 22 days, died early Friday December 21, 1928, after a ten weeks illness at the home of his daughter Mrs. U. H. Eberhart near Savannah.
Born in Milton township, March 29, 1845, he was a life-long resident of Ashland county.
He was united in marriage with Ellen Hunter, July 8, 1869, who preceded him in death twelve years ago. When a young man, he united with the Christian church of South Clear Creek and transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church of Savannah, at the time of his marriage.
He is survived by his only daughter, Anna Belle Eberhart; three grandchildren, Esther, Paul and Dale and one great grand child, Gwendolyn; one sister, Mrs. Callie Gettleman of Ashland.
He leaves, besides to mourn their loss numerous other relatives and friends.
Those from a distance attending the funeral of Abner Mercer, were Tully Crabbs of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Kirke and sons of Kenmore and Merle and Schuyler Mercer of Mansfield.
Mr. and Mrs. U. H. Eberhart and family wish to express their heartfelt thanks for the sympathy shown and aid received during the sickness and death of their father and grandfather.
