Ann grew up in Wagoner, Oklahoma and Colorado Springs, Colorado, returning to Wagoner to finish high school. She then attended OSU, earning a Bachelor's of Music degree. Ann taught school in Morrison while Hugh finished his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at OSU. Upon Hugh's graduation they moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma and he started his veterinary practice.
In July 1956 she and Hugh moved to Stigler; two weeks later Don was born; fifteen months after that David was born and Anna Caroline (Missy) was born in January 1960.
Hugh practiced until cancer took his life on November 29, 1966. With the help of her mother and father, she went back to school and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in the spring of 1969 with a Master's Degree in Library Science.
Upon graduation, Ann worked for the Stigler High School as librarian until retirement and raised 3 children.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stigler for 65 years, substituted on the organ as needed, was in the choir and bell choir and she was the church financial secretary. She loved to sing and played the mother superior in a local production of The Sound of Music. She volunteered on the Choctaw Nation Multi-County Library System board of directors for many years.
After retirement, Ann volunteered at the polls during elections. She was an avid reader, she loved music and was passionate about OSU sports of all kinds and was a life member of the OSU alumni association.
Those family members preceding Ann in death include her Father and Mother – H. O. and Mary Jane, (Janie), and her husband, Hugh.
Ann's passing leaves behind her children, Don Henderson and his wife, Marcia, of Tulsa, OK; her son, Dr. David Henderson, and his wife, Melissa of Destin, Florida; and her daughter, Anna Caroline Henderson, of Stigler, OK; grandchildren Chris (Broken Arrow, OK), Jeff (San Diego, CA), Dane (Athens, GA) and Katlyn Henderson (Athens, GA); and 4 great grandchildren.
A Ceremony of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Stigler at 11:00 am on January 22, 2022, with Rev. Dr. Jim Hill officiating. Inurnment will be held at 2:30 pm at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.
