It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of James R. Curtis, Jr (Ronnie) announce his passing on November 1, 2021 in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was born in Fredericksburg and lived there most of his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley and they were together over 50 years. Life will never be the same without him by her side. Ronnie is survived by his two children; James Christopher Curtis (Marcia) and Jacqueline Michelle Sullivan (Daniel) 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronnie joined the Marines when he was 17 and served in Vietnam. He always wanted to be in law enforcement and got his first job as a Deputy with the Caroline County Sheriffs office. He then went on to work for the Spotsylvania Sheriffs office and retired as Captain after 25 years of service. He loved his job and the many friendships he made over the years. After moving to North Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronnie enjoyed his days spending time at the beach with the wonderful friends he made there. Those close friendships meant so much to him.
A memorial service officiated by Minister James Lay will be held at Highway Assembly of God, 2221 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Fredericksburg, VA on December 8, 2021 at 12 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend. It will be followed by a private observance for family members at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
