Ruth (Preston) Clark died peacefully at her home with family by her side on November 19, 2021. She was born in Lowell, MA on January 2, 1928 and was the daughter of John and Ruth Preston. As a girl, she developed her father's love for the outdoors and enjoyed sharing stories of childhood adventures hiking, camping and horseback riding. She was educated in Manchester public schools and met Richard Clark, who would become her husband, in her Sophomore year at Central High School.

They married soon after Richard returned from his service in World War II and Ruth spent her early married years at home with her 5 children. She made a decision to complete her education as a teacher at age 50. She attended the University of New Hampshire (Durham), obtained an associates degree at UNH - Manchester and a BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester. Her passion for education and commitment to her faith led her to found, teach at and administrate Goffstown Christian School. She served there for 10 years and is remembered by the countless students whose lives she blessed and enriched. She spent her lifetime advocating for the magic of childhood.

She was a longtime resident of Goffstown on farmland called Clarkridge Farm. She and her husband worked it as a dairy farm and the farming tradition has been carried on, first by a son and currently by a grandson. As a woman known for her extraordinary faith and deep kindness, she was frequently sought out for prayer support or to discuss or study the Bible. She was a member of Bethany Covenant Church of Bedford for the past 20 years where she served as a deacon. Ruth wanted those around her to know she was not afraid of dying and that "This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through."

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Clark, in 1981 and her son, James B. Clark, in 2013. She is survived by her son Richard (Janice) of Deerfield, NH; son John (Maureen), of Plymouth, NH; her daughter Eleanor King (Michael) of Goffstown, NH; and daughter Elizabeth Clark (David) of West Richland, Washington. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bayada Hospice for the care they provided in Ruth's final days.

There will be no calling hours. Burial and Memorial Service will be at the convenience of the family. French and Rising of Goffstown will be in charge of the arrangements.
