Mr. Eugene "Shorty" Taylor, age 98, a resident of Louisville, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt Zion Baptist Church in Louisville with Reverend Curtis Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Shorty was born November 20, 1923 in Barbour County, Alabama, the son of James Richard Taylor and Ila Belle Cook Taylor. He was an outgoing man who loved people. Shorty drove a school bus for Barbour County Board of Education for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, buying, selling, and tinkering on used cars. Mr. Taylor was the oldest member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Clyde Baker Taylor; sister, Mary Frances Taylor Phillips; brother, Merrill Taylor; two nieces, Faye Beaty and Amaryllis Jones.

Flowers will be accepted or donations made in honor of Mr. Taylor to First Choice Hospice, 966 North Claxton Avenue,
Elba, Alabama, 36323.
