Richard B. Bruno, 69, Freehold passed away on Saturday morning, April 24th, 2021 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.

Born on Staten Island, Richard spent four years in the United States Navy aboard the destroyer escort, USS Vreeland, before beginning a long career as a chef restaurateur / owner of The Dapper Duck in Atlantic Highlands.

After a period at Buck Smith's, Keyport, he moved to Freehold and worked as a chef at The American Hotel, Monmouth Crossing and most recently, at CentraState Medical Center, all in Freehold.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Ellen, Staten Island. He is survived by his former wife, Cheryl Coyne, Brick; his son, Evan and Tara Bruno, and grandson, Max, Little Silver; his daughter Rebecca and Matthew Drucker, and grandchildren, Hannah Card, Matt, and Eva, Walnutport, (PA), one great grandchild Ella, and five siblings; Linda Beldy, Kings Park (NY); Vincent and Peggy Bruno, Freehold; Susan Caligiuri, Queensbury (NY); Roberta and Liberato Tortorici, Carlsbad (CA); and his twin brother John and Donna, Bowie, (MD) and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing is scheduled at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, April 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery , Wrightstown, NJ. at a later date.
