Owen A Rice Jr. , 68, of Westwood passed away on May 13.
He was the son of the late Catherine H. and Owen A. Rice Sr. of Westwood, NJ. Owen attended St. Joseph's High school where he played football; the University of New Hampshire where he received a BA; Montclair State University where he received an MFA.
He was employed by BNY Mellon's Pershing as a company trainer, where he enjoyed a great deal of national and international travel.
Owen, always a gentleman, was an accomplished guitarist entertaining his family who joined him in song… often off key!
Additionally, he was a talented artist.
His paintings are treasured by family and friends.
A favorite piece hangs locally at P. J. Finnegan's.
He was also a life-long Giant's fan starting with the Yale Bowl years.
At the family's highly anticipated annual LBI vacation, he was in charge of tide charts and was always the last one to leave the beach.
Owen is survived by his two sisters, Maureen R. Nolan (widow of Robert B. Nolan) and Christine R. Mulhauser (wife of George).
He was pre-deceased by his brother Dennis H. Rice and sister Jeanine R Krist (husband John)
His loss is deeply mourned by his many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
