She was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Ruggles, the daughter of Franklin and Lynda Daniels Sutherland, and married Jay Glenn Firebaugh on May 14, 1950. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2015.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the Beeson Hospital, the O.A.R.D.C. and in the auditors office. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County.
Surviving are her children, Anne (Pat) Hartel of Newcomerstown, Kathy (Ron) Gochnauer, Dawne Staggs, Stan (Nancy) Firebaugh, all of Wooster and Scott (Cindi) Firebaugh of Burbank; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jim Staggs; and a grandson, Toby Jay Firebaugh.
Friends will be received Sunday, Dec. 10 from 2-4 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Services will be Monday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with pastors Paul Bartholomew and Chad Palmer officiating. Interment will be in New Pittsburg Cemetery.
