He was born June 19, 1952, in Rowan County, to the late James Henry and Peggy Dry Cooke. Cookie was a 1970 Graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1974 Graduate of Catawba College where he received his degree in business. He was part owner of WRICO Equipment alongside his father and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell. Cookie was a former member of Catawba College Chief's Club and was a loyal supporter of Catawba baseball, softball, and field hockey and American Legion Baseball. He was a longtime fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Washington Football Team, Duke University, and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt.
He is survived by his brother, James H. Cooke, Jr., and wife, Heather, of Fayetteville; four nieces and nephews, Michael and Hillary Fryar, Zachary Parisian, and Marissa Nichols; and was "Uncle Cookie" to many other "nieces and nephews."
The family will greet friends and relatives Saturday, November 27, 1:00 pm-1:45 pm at First Baptist Church of Rockwell.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday, in the church, with Rev. Matthew Laughter officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
