He was born August 22, 1934 in Bedford, a son of the late Ira Cornelius " Doll" Hogan and Berta Swain Hogan. He was a member of Penuel Baptist Church, a devoted employee of The Lane Company for over 40 years. Edwin was a member of the Lynch Station Ruritan Club and enjoyed woodworking and riding his John Deere lawn tractor.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Howell and her husband, Terry of Evington; three grandchildren, Aaron Moore and his wife, Allison of Lynchburg, Robert Hogan of King George and Steven Shelton and his wife, Darlene of Hurt; and five great-grandchildren, Julian, Alexander, Alana, Rose, Eli and R.J.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stewart Thomas Hogan; a daughter, Glenna Lois Hogan Floeck; a grandson, Eddie Moore; four brothers, Isaac Hogan, Aaron Hogan, Isaiah "Ike" Hogan and James Thomas Hogan; and four sisters, Doris Pugh Thelma Barnard, Vernelle Talbott and Annie Allen.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by Pastor David Worley with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence of his daughter, Beverly Howell, 141 June Way, Evington, VA 24550.
