Phyllis E. Kennedy, age 87 of Riverside, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. She was born January 22, 1934 in Piqua, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Edith Smith.

Phyllis grew up in the Piqua area the eldest of 5 children. She met the love of her life while working at Albers as a cashier; it was love at first sight for them both. They were married shortly thereafter and were married for 65 years. She overcame many obstacles in her early life, but she worked hard to earn her GED in her mid 30's. In her early years, she was an avid bowler winning many trophies and competitions. She worked many jobs through the years before starting her career at the United States Postal Service, where she retired as a level 16 Supervisor. She loved God and was involved in several churches throughout her life. After retirement, she completed the Berean Bible College courses and became a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Kennedy; daughter, Nancy Jo Mohr; son, William Kennedy; her parents; brothers, Frank, Bob & Mike Smith; sister, Bonnie Bunn; 2 great grandchildren, Kourntey & Jaiden.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Vicki Kennedy Barger; grandchildren, Kendra Cecil, Sherry Heck, Megan Boatman, Abi Boatman, Joy (Travis) Harrison, Bethany (Joel) Peck, Alexander (Ashley) Barger & Ariana (Tom) Jervis; great grandchildren, Adeline, Keira, Ryleigh, Ryland, Mia, Everly, Elowyn, Tucker, Regan, David & Jamie; daughter-in-law, Janet Kennedy; son-in-law, Ben Mohr and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). A Funeral Service will be Friday, December 3, 2021 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery following the service.
