Mr. Baker passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born in Rembert, S.C., he was the son of the late Albert Luke and Mary Robertson Baker. He was a member of Church in the Home Religion of Lugoff. He was a veteran of the United States Army as well as a retired painter and textile employee of DuPont. Mr. Baker enjoyed traveling, reading, history, gardening and his chickens. Above all else Mr. Baker enjoyed being with his family whom he leaves behind to cherish his memories.
Surviving are his wife, of 68 years, Ola Shaffner Baker; son, John L. Baker of Cape Coral, FL.; daughters, Cheryl Baker of Columbia, S.C., Susan Baker of Lugoff, S.C., and Cynthia Gates (Thomas), Lugoff, S.C.; brother, David J. Baker (Betty) of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Betty Baker Smith of Gaston, S.C., and Marie Baker Hasty of West Columbia, S.C.; grandson, Ben Rabon (Ashleigh) of Lugoff; great-grandchildren, Will Rabon and Jake Rabon of Lugoff, Cassidy Condray and Calynn Condray of Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was predeceased by brother, Albert J. Baker, of Mtn. Park, N.C. and Hazel Baker of Ashwood; sisters, Anne L. Baker Greene of Auburn, CA and Janie Baker Holland of Bishopville, S.C.; granddaughter, Cheri Condray.
