Gregory Allan Bray, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on November 17, 2021, surrounded by his family at South County Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on November 13, 1950, in Providence, RI, the son of the late Wendell Bray and Paula (Zambarano) Bray.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Carroll) Bray. Also survived by his daughter, Nicole Rhind and her husband, Matt, three grandchildren, Nathan, Hope and Gigi Rhind of Southborough MA. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Charlene Coppage and her husband Craig, Melanie Gardiner and her husband Ed, Andrea Bray and her husband Joe Gibbons, Carla Entwistle and her husband Bill, Jeff Bray and his wife Anna, and many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of South County, Greg attended South Kingstown High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Rhode Island. He maintained many friendships with classmates from the '60s and '70s and often reminisced about his softball team, the Rat Pack. He would often share memories about his football and baseball days with the SK Rebels.

Greg was a second-generation commercial fisherman aboard many boats including the the F/V "Valiant Lady" and the F/V "Provider". Most recently, he worked as the Captain of the F/V "Relentless" for more than 30 years. He was well liked and highly respected by all his crew and colleagues.

Most at home on the ocean, Greg enjoyed spending time on his sailboat, the "Tessa", with Rebecca and made countless trips to Block Island. Greg and Rebecca also shared a love for their many cats and have generously supported multiple animal rescue programs throughout the years.

An avid sports fan, Greg enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox and the Patriots. On warm summer afternoons, you could find him in his backyard listening to the Sox game and splitting wood.

He was a modest man, genuine and honorable, and he loved rock and roll. We will miss his birthday phone calls, generosity and sense of humor. His last wish for all of us would be "Let the good times roll."

A visitation was held Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., South Kingstown. A celebration of Greg's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Point Judith Fisherman's Memorial Foundation, Attention Kathryn Manning Butler, PO BOX 3315, Narragansett RI 02882.
