Leila Grace Anthoney, 88, of Central City died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City where she was lovingly cared for by the staff and Ascera Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service at Community Bible Church in Central City with Pastor Gil Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Leila was born on June 8, 1933 to Albert J. and Clara (Morrison) Aufrecht in Sherman County, Nebraska.

She grew up on a farm near Loup City and attended a rural school and Loup City High School, graduating in 1950.

She then attended Grace University in Omaha and after graduation worked at Back to the Bible in Lincoln. She trusted the Lord as her Savior as a young girl and served Him faithfully the rest of her life.

Leila married Vernon L. Anthoney on June 15, 1956 in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Together they served in several rural mission churches in Central and Western U.S. They eventually settled in Central City so their daughter Susanna could attend Nebraska Christian Schools.

She was a member of the Community Bible Church where she was active in Awana Clubs.

She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and chocolate. At long term care she enjoyed various activities, especially Bingo.

Leila is survived by a daughter, Susanna (Jules) Svidumovich of Steelton, PA; grandson, Jason (Amanda) Svidumovich of PA; and brother, Dale (Pauline) Aufrecht of Beaverton, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; brother and sister in law, Robert (Alma) Aufrecht.
