Charles Robert Walker, 84, of Burwell, Nebraska passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at home after a battle with cancer.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Charlie was born on July 22, 1937 to Reverend Charles Walker and Sunny (Bethel) Walker in Plainview, Texas, the oldest of five children.

He graduated from New Mexico Western University in 1958.

He was a member of the Air force Reserve from 1961 to 1967.

Charlie's father was a Methodist minister and served in New Mexico,
Texas and Louisiana in several locations, ending in New Orleans.

After college Charlie worked for an oil company on a derrick out from New Orleans before going to work for the Boeing Company. At Boeing he worked on a NASA spacecraft and then transferred to Washinton, D.C. selling space on their data center.

Charlie was married to Gloria (Alexander) Walker DeNino until 1980. They had two children, Stephen Walker who lives in Dallas, Texas and has four children, Lindsay, Alex, Shawn and Stephen II and Kristin (Walker) Ellis who has one son, Tony Kirchgessner.

Charlie met Linda Shepard on his sailboat at Solomons Island, Maryland, in 1987. They were married in Plantation, Florida in 1996

Charlie loved sailing and spent nearly every weekend out on the sailboat with friends while they lived in the D.C. area.

In 1994, Charlie and Linda moved to Florida where Charlie started a reconstruction business. Some of their jobs included painting a three-story church, wall papering an entire house, including the doors, and completely redoing one ladies house. Every job was a challenge.

In 1998 Charlie and Linda moved back to California to be with Linda's grandchildren.
They lived in Cool, California until 2011 when Linda retired and then they moved to Burwell, where several of Linda's family were living.

Charlie loved the little kids and enjoyed working at Calamus preschool and Kids Club at church.

Charlie is survived by his wife Linda Shepard, a sister, Ann Bryant (Richard) in Mart, Texas, a brother, Richard Walker in Jackson, Mississippi, a sister, Celia Newton in Bethel, Washington, a son Stephen Walker in Dallas, Texas, a daughter Kristine Ellis (John) in Silver Springs, Maryland, a stepdaughter Lynette Shepard Davis (Marc) and their sons, Spencer and Cameron in Sacramento, California and over sixty foster kids, including Jorge Blancarte (Hikari) and their three children from Chula Vista, California, Lia Ransey from Sacramento, California, Landin Walker from Camp Pendleton, California, Justin Hagen from Sacramento, California and Phillip Martinez from Burwell and many grandchildren.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pat Denman.
