Actor. He was best known to film viewers as Amazing Larry in the 1985 film "Pee-wee's Big Adventure." He was also well known to television viewers as the proctologist Dr. Howard Cooperman with the job-specific vanity license plate "A—man" in a 1995 episode of "Seinfeld." He received his bachelor's degree from the University of California-Los Angeles. In 1961, he began his acting career in the Broadway play The Young Abe Lincoln. Three years later, he made his "small screen" debut on the series "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Besides "Seinfeld," he later appeared in various series such as "My Three Sons," "Room 222," "The Bob Newhart Show," "Barney Miller," "Alice," "Mad About You," "Almost Perfect," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "Grey's Anatomy." In 1965, he made his film debut in "Frankenstein Meets the Spacemonster." Besides "Pee-wee's Big Adventure." he later appeared in such films as "Little Big Man," (1970) "Young Frankenstein," (1974) "Foul Play," (1978) "Legal Eagles," (1986) "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,"(1989) "The Odd Couple II," (1998) and "Wedding Crashers." (2005) He also continued to appear on the Broadway stage for the rest of his career.
