GROVER: David Wayne Gordon, 49, died Monday, November 22, 2021 at his home.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Dewie and Jeannette Ridings Gordon. David was a Sr. Chemical Operator at Milliken for almost 25 years. Despite his difficulties with Huntington's disease, he was a wonderful husband, father, proud grandfather and good friend to many, and who was always available for who needed him. He loved comic books, gaming, fishing and old mustangs. His happy place was being in the mountains and in nature.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Melton; and sister, Dixie Huffman. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Kimberly Hanks Gordon, of the home; son, Enoch Gordon, of the home; daughter, Laurel Irvin and husband Tre of Lincolnton; sisters, Ruth Hathcock and husband Eddie of Oakboro and Susan Lovelace and husband Roy of Grover; brothers, Ricky Gordon and wife Rebecca of Earl and Doug Gordon and wife Robin of Waxhaw; grandson on the way, Nico Irvin; and his best friend and like a brother, Chuck Goforth of Gaffney.

The family will receive friends 3:00pm-5:00pm, Monday, November 29, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby. A celebration of life service will follow at a later date.
