John graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1949. He also graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He joined the US Air Force in 1953 and served as a Fighter Pilot. Following his honorable discharge, John returned to the family farm where he began his lifelong passion and career as a farmer / rancher.
On August 20, 1957, he married Marilyn Lorensen in Brush. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, flying his airplane, and spending time with his family. His passion was his farm and ranch activities. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, his 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and his parents.
