Mr. Robert Habbard, age 72, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born August 26, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida. His parents were Walker Henry Habbard and Cora Lee Sunday.
Mr. Habbard was a resident of Walton County. He was Mormon by faith and a member of the Latter-Day Saints Church DeFuniak Springs Ward. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. Serving his country in the United States Army with 13 years of service, having received many awards including: Army Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal (3), Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Rifle M-16 (Expert), Hand Grenade (Expert), National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bars (2), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He worked with the City of DeFuniak Springs, Florida for 26 years before retiring. He loved gardening and landscaping, having received a Master Gardener's Certificate. He was also Native American, a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe. He was known as Gray Hawk.
Mr. Habbard was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 42 years, Katherine Habbard; two sisters Lena Parker and Katie Carter; one brother Joey Goven; and one daughter Elizabeth Martin.
Mr. Habbard is survived by one son, Robert David Habbard and wife Melinda of Daleville, Alabama; one daughter, Cynthia Pennington and husband Cyril of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; three sisters Patricia Ann Pollard and husband Chuck of DeFuniak Springs; Jeryl MacCornack and husband James of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jessie Kloss and husband Art of Houston, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Austin Habbard, Preston Pennington, Ryan Pennington, Emmali Martin, John Martin, Lisa Martin, Haley Habbard, and Ashton Habbard.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 1, 2021, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Wendall Mitchem officiating.
Burial will be held at Red Bay Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Unites State Army.
