Last Rites Held For Mrs. William Marsh
Mrs. William Marsh, 75, of Janesville passed away at 11:20 Saturday evening, February 16. In poor health for the past year, Mrs. Marsh was a patient at the Memorial hospital in Waseca for a time. After returning to her home, she was later hospitalized in St. Peter where her death occurred. She had been ill for six months. Mrs. Marsh, nee Bertha Bates, was born September 13, 1876, at Stockton, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. The deceased came to Waseca County in 1902 and was married to William Alfred Marsh of Lewiston, Minn., on July 2 of the same year. Surviving her are her husband, five daughters and two sons, Mrs. George Shirley, Minneapolis; Ethelyn Miller, Rochester; Mrs. Vernon Butturff, Byron; Mrs. Wayne Abraham, Smiths Mill; Mrs. Edward Dzioba, Wisconsin, Wilbert, Waseca, and Melvin, Waterville; one brother, Rollo Bates, of St. Paul. Preceding her in death was one son, William, who died in 1918. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Arnoldt Funeral Chapel, Janesville. Deacon William Wedge of Waterville officiated. Interment was made in the Smiths Mill Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Wiste, Herbert Finley, Henry Mueller, Harvey Kuhn, Ben Frank and Billie Schafer.
