Dorothy May (Sands) Carter was born in Pasadena, CA, to Beatrice and Creed Sands. She was raised there along with her sister Peggy (Jack) Masters. Dorothy married Floyd Thuesen Pedersen in 1950. They raised 3 daughters Christine, Vicki and Sharon. Vicki preceded her mother in death in November, 2020. Dorothy married Donald Wesley Carter in February, 1969 and in 1980 they made their home on Emerson St in Upland. When Don died at the young age of 62 Dorothy stayed on and their home became the hub for the entire family. She hosted many holidays and pool parties over the years and was the consummate elegant hostess. Dorothy enjoyed travel having visited China, Europe and Scandinavia and liked collecting Native American art and artifacts. Dorothy is survived by sister Peggy Masters and 2 daughters Christine (Jon) Kelley, Sharon (Gordon) Chance. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Dorothy will be buried at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora alongside her husband, Don.
