Mathias Nidley
Mathias Nidley, Sr., was born in Licking county, Ohio, July 15, 1844, and died at the home of his son, Chalkley on October 26, 1916, being 72 years, 8 months and 11 days, old. He came to Illinois when but a boy, with his parents and has, resided here ever since, except for two years in Colorado. He joined the Federal army in 1862 and fought through the rest of the late rebellion and was mustered out in 1865. He was married in July 1871, to Nancy Jane Bailiff who preceded him in death by two years and a half, having been killed in a cyclone in Colorado and it was from the complication caused by his injuries in that storm that he died.
