Hardworking Geraldine Rose Hawkins spent years in sales as a cashier and manager in the food and alcohol industry and was known for being very outspoken, spunky and honest. If she had some comment to make, she didn't hesitate to say it.

She loved to play the slot machines at the Grand River Casino; she was generous to her family and strangers. She loved to read, and prayer was a part of her daily life.

Geraldine, who made her home in Kenel, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital at the age of 72.

The daughter of Mabel Halsey and John Bear King, Geraldine was born in Kenel on Nov. 11, 1935. She attended school in Kenel, Marty, St. Francis, Chamberlain, Fort Pierre and Rapid City.
