Stanley Neil Jones, 73, of Gastonia passed away November 19, 2021 at Robin Johnson Hospice House. He was born July 12, 1948 in Wapello County, Iowa, a son of the late Donald Addison Jones and Bertha Miller Jones.
Stanley was of the Baptist faith. He worked for the US Postal Service over 47 years. For Stanley's impeccable driving performance, he received an award for successfully driving over 1,000,000 miles without an accident. He was father to three step-children, whom he raised, loved and treated as his own. Stanley was the kind of man others describe as the "salt of the earth," in that he was easy-going, loving and considerate. He was also an avid sports fan. He adored the Dodgers and the Lakers. After retiring, Stanley enjoyed working in the yard and had recently discovered another favorite way to spend his time, playing pool. He loved people and his job and it was evident as the people on his route showered him each Christmas with gifts.
Stanley is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Judy Ensley Jones; son, Stephen Christopher (Cheri); daughters, Renee Calvert (Danny) and Mignon Christopher; sister, Kristine Jones; grandchildren, Brian Christopher (Casey), Jonathan Calvert (Carla), Dustin Hart, Shannon Calvert Pearson, Tosha Gainey, Tamara Zimmerman, Tabatha Chastain; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rogene Jones .
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm at Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 with Rev. William Calvert officiating.
