NORFOLK — Services for Lorraine M. Hale, 74, of Norfolk will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Home for Funerals with the Rev. Robin Stoops officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Home for Funerals in Norfolk.

She died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Heritage of Bel Air.

Lorraine was born June 21, 1936, at Bent Mountain, Va., the daughter of Angus and Odell (Manning) Mays. She attended Bent Mountain High School.

Lorraine married Wallace Hale on Jan. 12, 1952, at Roanoke, Va. Her career included working at Leggett's Department Store, Rexall Drug, and she began working for JC Penney's in 1971 in Newport, Ark., and retired from the Norfolk JC Penney's store in 1998.

Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and camping with the Valley Vagabonds of Norfolk.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Hale of Norfolk; three sons, Roger and Sandra Hale of Battle Creek, Barry and Phyllis Hale, Eric Hale and Lisa Towers of Norfolk; and daughter, Mitzi and John Bredehoft of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Eric D. Hale, Jaime and Chuck Hughes, Crystal and Courtney Bredehoft, and Noah Hale; two great-grandchildren, Jailynn and Easton; many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by one brother, George (Junior) and his wife Myrtle of Roanoke, Va.; sisters-in-law, Doris Mays and Ruby Duncan, both of Roanoke, and Jacqueline Bell of Copper Hill, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Thelbert Mays, and her beloved grandson, David Hale.
