William Richard "Keith" Tyler, 79 departed this earth at midnight on November 20, 2021.


Keith was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1964-1969. He retired with 37 years of service to Union Carbide & and Bayer Crop Science at the Institute Plant.


He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Brenda Jean Jackson; his daughter Lorrie (Brian) Lane of Nitro, his sons Jeff (Carol) of Cross Lanes and Brad (Tammy) of St. Albans. He was blessed with six grand-children. Savannah & Ava Lane, Emily Tyler, Rachel (Caleb) Torman, Daulton (Hali)Tyler, Jordan Tyler; 3 great-grandchildren Andrew, Caroline, and Tatum, and five step grandchildren, Jason, Alex, and Braxton Taylor Adrianna Fowler, Rachel Blake, Weston Mulcahy. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Robinson and Patricia Miller of Cowen, 3 brothers, Delbert of Alum Creek, David and Jerry of Cowen, many nieces and nephews.


Keith's greatest joy in life was serving as a coach for boys and girls in the Nitro Little League program, where he was greatly loved and respected as a teacher of baseball and softball for over 30 years. He continued teaching and guiding his granddaughters and their softball teams during the last years of his life.


Keith was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he worked with the children and youth programs. He was currently teaching Center Shot Archery to children who was interested in learning the skill and safety of the sport. He loved to hunt and fish with his children, grandkids, and others who enjoyed the outdoors.


Keith touched so many lives with his crazy personality and love for all children. He will be greatly missed from everyone who knew him. He was Papaw Keith to many and a roll model to others. Whether you were in the woods, on a ballfield or casting a line, he was teaching life lessons that many have not forgotten and have passed down to other children.
