Son of Jean Antoine Bonnefoy (1808 - 1880) and his wife Marie Jeanne (née Tardieu, 1816 - 1898)

Sister: Marie Antoinette Bonnefoy

Married in Paris, France on January 17, 1889, as "Marie Magne" and "Jean Baptiste Poulalion(?)"

Arrived in Canada in March, 1891, aboard the Carthaginian, with his wife and a nephew, Maurice Augustin "Auguste" Bonnefoy.

MB Death Registration #1907,003200 as "Jean Baptiste Bonnefoy"; estimated age at death: 62 years (RM of South Norfolk)

Noting the misspelling of his family name on the headstone, as well as the contradiction between the date of death on the provincial registration and the headstone

An excerpt from the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB, Centennial Book, describing the lives of the families of two Bonnefoy brothers in the area, of whom, only Jean Baptiste remained in Canada:
