Oldest son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Burton) Waters of Maryland. He inherited 100 acres of "Jericoe", and his father's surveying tools in 1780. Moved to Mason County, KY with his wife, Margaret Lancaster Lansdale, and eight children about 1795. Owned two ferry crossings near Maysville on the Ohio River, and also surveyed the road to Williamsburg, Clermont County, Ohio. Margaret died, and in 1807 he married the widow Lucy (Gaines) Botts.

It is not known if they were buried here, or in a cemetery on land owned by the Gaines or Botts families. But this cemetery was opened in 1819, so this could well be their final resting place.
