Jacqueline Ann Tate

Jackie B. Tate, 40, a native of Asheville, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at a Winston-Salem medical center.

She was born June 21, 1965, in Buncombe County to the union of Eugene Briscoe and the late Judy Miller Briscoe.

Jackie was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence, R.I. She was a member of the United Cathedral Church in Winston-Salem, Pastor K.J. Rogers.

Jackie was an advocate for family unity. She was a steadfast source of guidance and encouragement to her sisters, Antia B. Jones and the late Vickie Briscoe, also her niece, Jasmin Jones and nephew, Lamar Upchurch.

She retired from Sara Lee Corp. as an inspector for over 18 years.

Jackie leaves to mourn in addition to her father, sister and children, a special friend, Paula and children of Winston-Salem; uncles, Billy Briscoe (Mary), Bobby Briscoe (Gwen) of Asheville, Jerry Briscoe of Winston-Salem and David Briscoe of Little Rock, Ark.; aunt, Virginia Kimbrough (Alfred) of Winston-Salem; great-aunts, Mamie Staggs, Annie Fowler, Irene Miller, Margaret Robinson and Charlotte Harper (Joseph), all of Asheville; special family member, James Johnson of Shelby; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church. Pastor K.J. Rogers will officiate.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the church one hour prior to services. A private burial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory in Weaverville under the direction of Douthit Funeral Service, 4200 N. Cherry St., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.

The family wish to thank everyone for all of your kind acts of love and sympathy.
