Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie (Lewis) Hayden. She received her education in the Lynn school system and graduated from Lynn Classical High School.
As a young woman, Mrs. Hughes had been employed by the General Electric Company in Lynn. Following her marriage, she dedicated her life to raising her family in Peabody where she had resided for sixty five years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving her are two daughters, Robin Quirk and her husband, Frank of Peabody and Donna Ruccolo of Topsfield, a son, Jim Hughes and his wife, Sue of Peabody, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was also the sister of the late Edward Hayden of Lynn.
