With heartfelt sadness, the family of Rebeca "Becca" Ann Byrd, 65, of Lake Charles, announces her passing away on November 13, 2021. She had fought a courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer.

Becca was born December 19, 1955 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Eunice Eugene and Daisy Valentine Snell Byrd. Becca was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Westlake and attended several churches in Wilson, North Carolina area where she lived and worked for many years. Becca was a graduate of Westlake High School and McNeese State University. Prior to working for BB&T bank in Wilson for 30 years as IT Implementation Manager, she worked at PPG and CITGO in the Lake Area. She recently retired and moved back to Lake Charles.

Rebecca was known to be the greatest aunt and mentor to her many nieces & nephews. She was always there to support anyone in the family, even to help raise Joshua & Michael. She loved cooking and baking. The family always looked forward to her homemade Christmas candy every year. She loved researching our family genealogy and made new discoveries along the way. With her many adventures, she created a lifetime of memories will never be forgotten. Too many times to count, she treated her family and friends dinner and a movie. She enjoyed life and lived it well! When visiting her in North Carolina, her family and friends could be expected to be treated to trips to the Atlantic Beach, the annual theater production of The Christmas Carol in Raleigh, N.C., as well as many other side step adventures. She loved her cats Bo & Maggie & had recently moved back to Lake Charles.

Those left to cherish her memories are her brothers Eugene Byrd, Karnak, Texas; David Byrd, Floyd, Virginia; sisters, Lydia Fletcher, Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; and Cindy Byrd, Lake Charles, Louisiana; her furry four-legged companions Bo and Maggie and many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and extended family of the heart. She will be missed greatly.

As to Becca's wishes, her remains were cremated under the care of Johnson Funeral Home with no formal services to be observed.
