Politician. She served as advisor to the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX) and the Social Union of Mexican Entrepreneurs. She joined the National Action Party (PAN) in 1990, and became a Federal Deputy of the V Federal Electoral District of Tamaulipas, serving from 1991 to 1994. In the federal elections of Mexico in 1994, she was elected senator, being the first PAN woman to be one, a position she held until 2000. She served in the LVI and LVII Legislatures, being Secretary of the Commissions of the Navy, and of Equity and Gender, and member of the Commissions of Environment and Natural Resources, Social Security, and Transportation. As of 2014, she became a member of the party Citizens' Movement.
