A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Hester Ann Duncan and the late Franklin ″DeWitt″ James. Susie was a member of Tuscola Highschool's 1977 graduating class where she also played and excelled on the Varsity basketball team. Susie was an awesome mom who was supportive of her children in all their endeavors both inside and outside of school. She was a loyal friend and a tireless worker, but her sense of humor made her the life of the party. Susie enjoyed road trips and spending time on the shores of Lake Chatuge.
In addition to her mother, Susie is survived by her husband of 14 years, Doug Wyatt; her daughter, Bryttni Caldwell (Erik), of Waynesville; her son, Christopher Wayne Ashe, of Charleston, South Carolina; brothers, Marvin James (Marsha), of Ackworth, Georgia, Charlie James (Audrey), of Hendersonville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; grandchild, Piper Marie Caldwell.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Upper Crabtree Cemetery, with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating.
