Roger was born in Lexington, NE on May 31, 1942 to Arthur and Mildred (Fern) Anderson.

Roger graduated from Lexington High School in 1960. He earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Kearney State in May of 1983.

Roger served two years in active service in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1966, remaining in the Naval Reserves until 2002. He retired from the Military as a Lieutenant Commander.

Roger worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for thirty-three years, also retiring in 2002.

Roger loved many things in life. He enjoyed working on cars for many years, traveling, fishing/hunting and boating. He was a very kind and giving man routinely helping others in any way he could, freely giving his time and energy.

Roger was an active member of the Sheridan Lutheran Church. Attending Men's Group for Bible study found him in the kitchen preparing or cleaning up after the morning breakfast. He enjoyed working with children during Vacation Bible School, helping his wife present the lessons or building a whale large enough for 65 students to enter for the story about Jonah. He was active in Habitat For Humanity in Haiti, Romania, and El Salvador building homes, schools, or just being interactive with the children.

He was a member of many car clubs throughout the years including Nifty Fifties, Early Ford V8 and the Model A Club. Traveling with a group of members in old cars was always his favorite mode of transportation.

He was a member of the Pleasant Dale American Legion Post #354. He served as the Commander of the Post as well as the County Commander. Being part of the honor guard on Memorial Day or funerals was an honored duty for him. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3606.
