Pueblo, CO—Joseph Barry Foster died at 11:19 p.m. Saturday (November 6, 2021), at Sangre de Cristo Hospice Care in Pueblo, CO.
Joe was born August 3rd, 1941, in LaSalle, IL, the son of Mrs. Delbert Hall (Ida).
He was raised by his grandfather, Joseph Polacci in Joliet, IL. Joe went to Joliet Township High School, where he met Mary-Lou Edna Drom of Elwood, IL They were married August 26th, 1960. Joe started his career with the Illinois Department of Corrections in Joliet at Stateville Correctional Center. He was attacked there in 1977 and soon after moved to Lincoln, IL where he was instrumental in helping to design security for Logan Correctional Center. Captain Foster retired in 1998, after serving over 30 years with IDOC, to take care of Mary-Lou who suffered health complications. He was by her side when she passed away that year. Joe remarried Fatu Mambo on March 26th, 1999, in Bloomington, IL and they relocated to Pueblo, CO. Joe worked in retirement for a security company up until his death. He enjoyed living in Colorado and, with his wife, traveled the country and the world.
Joe is survived by his wife, Fatu Foster and daughters, Mary-Lynn Foster Krueger (George Krueger) and Sue Foster and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary-Lou Foster; grandparents, Jennie and Joseph Polacci; mother, Ida Hall and sister, Darleen Hall.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
