Charles David Robbins, Jr., age 72, of Burgaw passed peacefully from his earthly life Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home.
He was born January 6, 1949 in New Hanover County, the son of Charles David Robbins, Sr. and Evelyn McCaskill Smith. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Cunningham.
David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gloria Cameron Robbins; daughter, Shannon R. Pearce (Kenneth); son, Shane Cameron Robbins; grandson, Brandon David Pearce (Sara); great grandchildren, Luke Pearce, Maddie Pearce, and Avery Pearce; sister, Sandra Westberry; and loyal friend, Harold Stauber and his wife, Lynn.
David was THE BEST husband, brother, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend that anyone could have ever asked for. He was a tremendously hard worker and always put his family before himself. He worked his fingers to the bone to make sure they always had whatever they needed or wanted. He never met a stranger. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone that he could. He had the biggest heart ever. He always treated all of Shane's and Shannon's friends like they were his own and they treated him the same. Although he loved his wife, children, and family, his grandson Brandon AKA "Boo" and his three great grandchildren were the apple of his eye. His favorite times were going fishing with his "Shaney Boy" and spending time with his family and best friend Mr. Harold. He loved his sister, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and all of our extended family. He was dedicated to everything he did up until the day the Lord called him home. Our family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Schreiber, Dr. Sandra Mostard, and Mary his nurse for their care over the last several months. A special thank you also goes to Mike Thurlow and the crew at Economy Tire.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Andy Ottaway conducting the service. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
