"Judy K. Parsons, 18, of Palmerton R.2, a freshman at Bucknell University, died Thursday in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, Union County, after being stricken in her dormitory room.

Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of John W. and Jeanette (Serfass) Parsons.

A 1984 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, she was editor in chief in her senior year of the school paper, The Phoenix, and feature editor in her junior year. She was president of the National Honor Society in her senior year and was a member of the Pennsylvania Youth Education Association.

Miss Parsons was a member of scholastic scrimmage team for two years, serving as captain in her senior year, and was student council president, also in her senior year. She was also a member of the Art Club and chorus.

She received 14 academic and leadership awards during high school, among them the Martin Philip Student Council Award; the Sidney R. Webb Award for achievement in social studies; the Masonic Lodge of Slatington Award for academics,leadership, school spirit and contributions toward improving student life, and the President's academic fitness award.

She was one of 150 students across the country selected last year by the U.S. Achievement Academy for Scholarship and was attending Bucknell on a full academic scholarship.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Palmerton.

Surviving with her parents are a brother John, at home; two sisters, Jan, wife of Dennis Steigerwalt of East Stroudsburg, and Jeanne, wife of Lt. Steven Green, stationed with the Navy in South Bend, Ind., and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret M. Serfass of Palmerton.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service at Bucknell will be announced by university officials.

The Charles H. Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of arrangements."
